We just identified yet another appliance that has a high standby energy cost: We have a Panasonic Convection\Microwave which is a few years old, but is prime condition, however while is is sitting in standby to keep the clock running it’s using 58 watts!
This is one of the highest standby readings that we have detected so far and at today’s electricity tariff the costs of operation for this Panasonic Product are as follows (when on standby)
