Today is a sognificant day for our Energy Monitoring development. After nearly 12 months of developing applications and appliances targeted for the Windows Platform we have a huge issue with costs related to our final product using Windows Embedded. While the developed applications are fast, reliable and deliver the benefits promised they are just too costly to deliver the final product.
As a result we have found that we need to deploy our Energy Monitor Appliances to a less costly platform and have today commenced delvelopment for Energy Monitor Appliances in the Linux plateform. As a result we have a relatively large learning curve to overcome, however we are working from an already development suite of applications that we will be attempting to port using the Mono platform.
This new direction for our Energy Monitoring Appliances should reduce the cost price by around AUD$90 per appliance which give us more control over the final price.
